How closely do you listen to lyrics?
I’ve always loved listening to music not just because it sounds cool but there is a secret meaning behind most songs that you have to listen to understand it. When you listen to a song first the beat behind it is interesting but once the person starts to sing I try and listen to what that person or people are trying to get through. Just by listening you can hear what their emotions were and how they wanted the song to be interpreted. Some may find a different meaning to the song but that’s okay some people just have different interpretations to the song, what you thought the song meant might be right to you but that’s how you personally feel. Some songs it may be easy to figure out what the song means like how Master of Puppets by Metallica is a song about cocaine and other drugs and how those drugs control you. Whereas Kim by Eminem sounds like a song that he wants to kill someone but he has a reason for it, she cheated on him and kicked him out and that meaning may not get to you at first but if you know what happened before it’s easy to figure out. When you listen to a song you will hear the meaning and for some songs you will take that meaning to a personal level. So Alone by Anna Blue would be for someone that is sad and lonely or just felling down because that is what she is singing about how people wouldn’t are if you disappeared. All of Me by John Legend would be a song that shows that you are feeling down but are in love with someone and that they want to be part of that person’s life. We’re not Gonna take it by Twisted Sister has a political side to it and saying that they aren’t going to go by what the government was doing. By listening to music your how that music artist feels and how their perspective is on the topic they are singing whether it being drugs, depression, or being happy they all have their own opinion about something and express that opinion through their music. Music can reach you on a personal level but it’s up to you to take it personally and to listen to the true meaning of the song. I have heard that many people just listen to music for the background beat and don’t listen to the lyrics, I could never actually do that I love listening to the lyrics and what the musician is singing about if I’m not paying attention to the song and only here a part of the song I will always listen to the song again just to figure out the true meaning of the song. Music is my escape from the reality of the world, it makes me feel like I’m all alone and no one can hurt me, like there is no one that can get involved in my life and there is only me and the music and no one can interfere with that.
